Why an ATS is Crucial for Your Startup | How Shipup uses Teamtailor

We sat down and caught up with Quentin Vervialle, Talent Acquisition Manager at Shipup, to ask him a few questions about his vision of recruitment and his experiences with Teamtailor.

Founded in 2016, Shipup has around 50 employees and offers a SaaS platform for brands with the aim of taking control of the most volatile part of the customer experience - post-purchase - in order to increase brand loyalty and reduce costs.

There are many advantages to having a good recruitment process:

Quentin was quickly confronted with the recruitment challenges that accompany strong growth. Like many start-ups, he was using Welcome to the Jungle's Welcome Kit solution for recruitment, but soon decided it was time to turn to a specialized ATS tool.

“We were 2 recruiters with 3 co-founders at the start and we recruited several department heads to structure and grow the teams and anticipate the next phases of growth,” he explains.

So it was only natural that the need for an ATS grew as the company did: they needed a collaborative tool that included managers and other hiring decision makers to create more reliable and efficient hiring process.

Quentin took stock of the ATS offerings on the market, and the name Teamtailor came up repeatedly in the various HR communities. More importantly, he knew someone who was already using Teamtailor and they were very satisfied with it.

Quentin's favorite feature is the automatic triggers, in particular the automation of candidate communication, as this saves him an incredible amount of time, knowing that the candidate is kept informed throughout every stage of the recruitment process.

He also appreciates the interview scheduling features because, thanks to the synchronization of calendars, he can quickly send out information, reserve rooms, and communicate meeting agendas.

“It may sound silly, but the fact that everything is centralized is really appreciated,” he explains.

Last but not least, he finds the interview kit really practical, as it structures both their interviews and their scorecards.

  • In terms of efficiency for the recruiter, “it's an undeniable time-saver, thanks to the automatic movement of candidates from one stage to the next,” according to Quentin. Equip yourself with an ATS when you start structuring your recruitment strategy. The first priority is the ATS, after which you can use other HR tools for sourcing, cooptation, etc.
